At 1243 AM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from City Island to Elmont. Movement was northeast at 40 mph. HAZARD...Winds in excess of 30 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to outdoor objects is possible. Locations impacted include... At 1232 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated a strong thunderstorm, capable of producing winds to around 30 knots and small hail. This thunderstorm was located near Little Neck Bay, moving northeast at 35 knots. Locations impacted include... Long Neck Point, Stamford Harbor, Captain Harbor, Cold Spring Harbor, Huntington Bay, Hempstead Harbor, Saddle Rock, Eastchester Bay, Little Neck Bay, and Oyster Bay Harbor. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots, locally higher waves, lightning strikes, and heavy downpours. Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until this storm passes. Lightning is occurring with this storm.
