* WHAT...Very cold wind chills around 10 below expected.

* WHERE...Portions of southern Connecticut, northeast New Jersey,
and southeast New York.

* WHEN...From 10 PM Friday to 10 AM EST Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin
is exposed to these temperatures for any prolonged period of time.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a
hat, and gloves.

Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure
portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills
inside.

...WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM LATE SATURDAY NIGHT THROUGH
MONDAY AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...Heavy snow possible. Precipitation could mix with sleet and
freezing rain for a time Sunday night especially closer to the
coast. Potential for snow accumulation of 6 to 12 inches, with
localized accumulations over 12 inches possible.


* WHERE...All of southeast New York, northeast New Jersey, and
southern Connecticut.

* WHEN...From late Saturday night through Monday afternoon.

* IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will
likely become slick and hazardous. Visibilities may drop below one
quarter mile in heavy snow.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Persons should consider delaying all travel from Sunday into Monday.
If travel is absolutely necessary, drive with extreme caution. Make
sure your car is winterized and in good working order. Consider
taking a winter storm kit along with you, including such items as
tire chains, booster cables, flashlight, shovel, blankets and extra
clothing. Also take water, a first aid kit, and anything else that
would help you survive in case you become stranded.
