* Special Marine Warning for...

New York Harbor...
Sandy Hook NJ to Fire Island Inlet NY out 20 NM...

* Until 845 PM EDT.

* At 743 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from Barnum Island to 6 nm southeast of Jamaica Bay to
Sandy Hook Reef, moving southeast at 40 knots.

HAZARD...Wind gusts in excess of 50 knots.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Boats could suffer significant structural damage in high
winds. Small craft could capsize in suddenly higher
waves.

* Locations impacted include...
Jones Beach, Keansburg, Raritan Bay, Island Park, Barnum Island,
Entrance to New York Harbor, Rockaway Inlet, Middle Bay, Sandy Hook
Bay, Lower New York Harbor and Jones Inlet.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Move to safe harbor immediately as gusty winds and high waves are
expected.

Frequent lightning is occurring with these storms. If caught on the
open water stay below deck if possible, keep away from ungrounded
metal objects.

Report severe weather to the Coast Guard or the National Weather
Service.

* WHAT...West winds 15 to 25 kt with gusts up to 35 kt and seas
2 to 4 feet expected.

* WHERE...Long Island Sound west of the Orient Point and the
Connecticut River, and New York Harbor.

* WHEN...Until 6 AM EDT Sunday.

* IMPACTS...Strong winds will cause hazardous seas which could
capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Mariners should alter plans to avoid these hazardous conditions.
Remain in port, seek safe harbor, alter course, and/or secure the
vessel for severe conditions.
