At 632 AM EST, Doppler radar indicated a snow squall, capable of producing winds to around 30 knots. This snow squall was located along a line extending from 9 nm south of Smithtown Bay to near Jones Beach to 11 nm northwest of Silverton, moving east at 40 knots. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Mariners can expect brief whiteout conditions, a sudden wind shift to the northwest, gusty winds to around 30 knots and locally higher waves. &&

HAZARD...Intense bursts of heavy snow. Gusty winds leading to blowing snow and rapidly falling visibility. Wind gusts greater than 35 mph. SOURCE...Radar and webcams. IMPACT...Travel will become difficult and potentially dangerous within minutes. This snow squall will be near... Islip and Brentwood around 635 AM EST. Robert Moses State Park and Coram around 640 AM EST. Medford and Patchogue around 645 AM EST. Shirley and Wading River around 650 AM EST. Manorville and Center Moriches around 655 AM EST.
