...COASTAL FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM EDT SUNDAY... * WHAT...One to two feet and locally up to 2 1/2 feet of inundation above ground level in vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline. * WHERE...Northeast Suffolk County. * WHEN...Until 6 PM EDT Sunday. * COASTAL IMPACTS...Widespread flooding of vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline, including roads, parking lots, parks, lawns, and homes and businesses with basements near the waterfront. Numerous road closures are likely, and vehicles parked in vulnerable areas near the waterfront will likely become flooded. Flooding will also extend inland from the waterfront along tidal rivers and bays. * SHOREFRONT AND BEACH IMPACTS...Breaking waves of 4 to 7 feet along with elevated water levels will result in areas of dune erosion and beach flooding. Splashover over seawalls and overwashes where dune structures are compromised may locally exacerbate flooding of roadways and vulnerable structures behind protective dunes. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Take the necessary actions to protect flood prone property. If travel is required, do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. && Time of high total tides are approximate to the nearest hour. Occasional gusts up to 50 kt possible on the waters E of Orient Point. * WHERE...Long Island Sound east of Port Jefferson and New Haven, and the south shore and eastern bays of Long Island. * WHEN...Until 6 PM EDT Sunday. * IMPACTS...Strong winds will cause hazardous seas which could capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility.
