THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS EXTENDED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 448 TO INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING AREAS UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING IN NEW YORK THIS WATCH INCLUDES 5 COUNTIES IN CENTRAL NEW YORK MADISON ONEIDA ONONDAGA SENECA YATES THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF HAMILTON, ONEIDA, PENN YAN, ROME, SENECA FALLS, SYRACUSE, AND UTICA.

...EXTREME HEAT WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT THIS EVENING... * WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with maximum heat index values from 95 to 105 this afternoon. Temperatures will stay very warm at night, limiting the ability for cooling of non air-conditioned areas. * WHERE...Portions of central New York and northeast Pennsylvania. * WHEN...Until 8 PM EDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening.
