...LIGHT TO MODERATE SNOW THIS MORNING... Snow continues to move through New London county and the twin forks of Long Island. Periods of moderate snow were occurring with snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour. As of 800 AM areas have had as much as 3 to 4 inches. Snow will be tapering off after 1100 AM. Visibilities will also be reduced to near 1/2 to 1 mile at times. In addition west to northwest winds increasing to 20 to 25 mph with gusts 30 to 40 mph will result in blowing and drifting snow. Slippery conditions can be expected and motorists should proceed with extra caution.

For the Heavy Freezing Spray Warning, from 1 PM this afternoon to noon EST Sunday. * IMPACTS...Operating a vessel in heavy freezing spray is hazardous. Freezing spray may render mechanical and electronic components inoperative. Rapid ice accretion on decks and superstructures may result in a catastrophic loss of stability. Strong winds will cause hazardous seas which could capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Mariners should prepare for dangerous accumulation of ice on their vessel. If possible, remain in port, avoid the warning area or conduct mitigation.
