prepared for difficult travel due to high snowfall rates, low
visibilities, and snow covered roads.

Travel is not recommended this evening. If travel is necessary, slow
down and allow extra time to reach your destination.

...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 7 PM THIS EVENING TO
1 PM EST SATURDAY...

* WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 7 and
10 inches.

* WHERE...Northeast Suffolk and Southeast Suffolk Counties.

* WHEN...From 7 PM this evening to 1 PM EST Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will
likely become slick and hazardous. Visibilities may drop below 1/4
mile due to falling and blowing snow. Travel could be very
difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the Friday
evening commute.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The period of heaviest snowfall (1-2"/hr)
will occur between 6pm and midnight, making travel very difficult.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in
your vehicle in case of an emergency. Check local Department of
Transportation information services for the latest road conditions.

Persons should consider delaying all travel. If travel is absolutely
necessary, drive with extreme caution. Consider taking a winter
storm kit along with you, including such items as tire chains,
booster cables, flashlight, shovel, blankets and extra clothing.
Also take water, a first aid kit, and anything else that would help
you survive in case you become stranded.
