Southern Monroe County in western New York... Northwestern Ontario County in western New York... * Until 515 PM EST. * At 412 PM EST, a dangerous snow squall was located along a line extending from near Gates-North Gates to 9 miles northwest of Houghton, moving east at 25 mph. HAZARD...Intense bursts of heavy snow. Gusty winds leading to blowing snow and visibility rapidly falling to less than one-quarter mile. Wind gusts greater than 50 mph could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. SOURCE...Radar and webcams. IMPACT...Travel will become difficult and potentially dangerous within minutes. This includes the following highways... Interstate 390 between exits 6 and 12. Interstate 90 between exits 44 and 46. Locations impacted include... Rochester, Irondequoit, Chili, Geneseo, East Rochester, Webster, Fairport, Dansville, Brighton, and Gates-North Gates. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Slow Down! Winds gusting as high as 55 mph Monday into Tuesday creating blowing and drifting snow and whiteout conditions. * WHERE...Wayne and Northern Cayuga Counties. * WHEN...From 7 PM this evening to 7 PM EST Thursday. * IMPACTS...Whiteout conditions are expected making travel very difficult at times Monday night into Tuesday. The hazardous conditions from lake effect snow will continue to impact travel through the week. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Heaviest snowfall and strongest winds expected tonight through Tuesday evening with lingering lake snows continuing through mid-week.
