...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1 AM EST THURSDAY... * WHAT...Mixed precipitation expected. Total snow and sleet accumulations of one inch or less. Freezing rain accumulations of a tenth to three tenths of an inch. * WHERE...Niagara, Orleans, Monroe, Wayne, Northern Cayuga, and Genesee Counties. The greatest ice accumulations will likely be across northern portions of Niagara, Orleans, and Monroe counties. * WHEN...Until 1 AM EST Thursday. * IMPACTS...Power outages and tree damage are possible in some areas due to ice accretion. The wintry mix and freezing rain may result in very slick conditions on untreated surfaces. The hazardous conditions will impact the Wednesday evening commute. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Ice will more readily accumulate on elevated surfaces. Temperatures near the freezing point combined with the higher mid-February sun angle may help mitigate impacts on area roadways, limiting ice accumulation potential. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Periods of snow, sleet, or freezing rain will result in slippery surfaces and limited visibilities. Slow down and use caution while driving.
