* IMPACTS...At 8.0 feet, Major Flood Stage. Water reaches several RV
parks are inundated with one to three feet of water. Route 28 from
White Creek Road To Mechanic Street In Newport is closed due to
water over the roadway.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 5:15 PM EDT Wednesday the stage was 8.0 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 8.4
feet this evening. It will then fall below flood stage early
Saturday morning.
- Flood stage is 6.0 feet.

* IMPACTS...At 15.0 feet, Minor flood stage. Water overflows onto
Route 5S near Fort Herkimer and farm fields are flooded.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 3:30 PM EDT Wednesday the stage was 15.1 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 15.5
feet this evening. It will then fall below flood stage late
tonight.

* WHAT...Moderate flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is
forecast. This approaches the flood of record.

* WHERE...West Canada Creek at Hinckley.

* WHEN...Until late Friday morning.

* IMPACTS...At 1228.0 feet, Moderate flood stage. Three feet of
water are spilling over and there is widespread flooding
downstream between Hinckley and Herkimer. Route 28 from White
Creek Road To Mechanic Street In Newport is closed due to water
over the roadway.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 2:45 PM EDT Wednesday the stage was 1229.8 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage
early Friday morning and continue falling to 1226.5 feet
Saturday morning.
- Flood stage is 1227.0 feet.

...FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 745 AM EDT THURSDAY...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by the West Canada Creek over topping its
banks.

* WHERE...Along the West Canada Creek between Middleville and Poland.

* WHEN...Until 745 AM EDT Thursday.

* IMPACTS...The West Canada Creek continues to rise due to excess
runoff from recent rainfall and snow melt. A portion of Route 28
between White Creek Road and Mechanic Street in Newport is closed
due to water over the road.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 243 PM EDT, emergency management reported the West Canada
Creek rising and over topping its banks. This has led to
flooding of sections of Route 28. The West Canada Creek will
crest later this afternoon but remain in moderate flood stage
until early Thursday morning. It is expected to drop below
flood stage by Thursday evening.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Newport, Middleville, Poland and Old City.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become
unstable and unsafe.

...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Rivers, streams and creeks remain elevated with a few at or
above flood stage through tonight due to recent rain and snowmelt.

* WHERE...The southwest Adirondacks and the western Mohawk Valley.

* WHEN...Until 8 PM EDT this evening.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff and snow melt has resulted in flooding
of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone
locations.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Many rivers should crest this afternoon and trend downwards
tonight. Therefore, the watch continues through this evening
in Herkimer and Hamilton counties. An additional 0.10 - 0.25"
of rain is expected tonight in the watch area but this should
not result in renewed flooding.
