* WHAT...For the Dense Fog Advisory, dense fog will reduce
visibility to 1/4 NM or less. For the Small Craft Advisory, west
winds 15 to 25 kt with gusts up to 30 kt and waves 1 to 2 feet
expected. For the Gale Watch, west winds 20 to 25 kt with gusts
up to 40 kt.

* WHERE...The Long Island south shore bays.

* WHEN...For the Dense Fog Advisory, until 8 PM EST this
evening. For the Small Craft Advisory, from 8 PM this evening
to 6 AM EST Friday. For the Gale Watch, from Friday morning
through Friday afternoon.

* IMPACTS...Strong winds can cause hazardous waves which could
capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility. Low
visibility will make navigation difficult.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Mariners should consider altering plans to avoid possible
hazardous conditions.  Remain in port, seek safe harbor, alter
course, and/or secure the vessel for severe wind and seas.

If you must navigate, proceed with caution. Use proper fog
signals. Make sure all running lights are on. Remember to use
your radar and compass.
