...GALE WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT EDT THURSDAY NIGHT...

* WINDS AND SEAS...Southeast winds 20 to 30 kt with gusts up to
45 kt this evening, becoming West 25 to 35 kt with gusts up to
45 kt tonight into Thursday. Seas 8 to 13 feet on the ocean and
4 to 7 feet on the Sound.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Gale Warning means sustained winds or frequent gusts of 34 to
47 kt are expected or occurring. Operating a vessel in gale
conditions requires experience and properly equipped vessels. It
is highly recommended that mariners without the proper experience
seek safe harbor prior to the onset of gale conditions.

...COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT FROM 9 PM THIS EVENING TO
2 AM EDT THURSDAY...

* LOCATIONS...Vulnerable coastal locales along Southern Nassau
and Southern Queens.

* TIMING...During the times of high tide from 9 PM this evening
to 2 AM EDT Thursday.

* COASTAL FLOOD IMPACTS...There is a low threat of property
damage. Shallow flooding is expected in the most vulnerable
locations near the waterfront and shoreline. Expect around 1 to
2 feet of inundation above ground level in low lying, vulnerable
areas. Some roads and low lying property including parking
lots, parks, lawns and homes/businesses with basements near the
waterfront will experience shallow flooding.

* SHORELINE IMPACTS...Large breaking waves will result in
significant beach erosion and flooding with areas of erosion to
dune structures during the times of high tide tonight.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Coastal Flood Advisory indicates that onshore winds and tides
will combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore.

...WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM EDT THURSDAY...

The National Weather Service in Upton has issued a Wind Advisory,
which is in effect until 6 PM EDT Thursday.

* WHAT...Southeast winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph this
evening along the coast, becoming west and expanding across the
entire area tonight into Thursday.

* WHERE...Entire Tri-State Area.

* WHEN...From 10 PM this evening to 6 PM EDT Thursday.

* IMPACTS...Strong winds may blow down limbs, trees, and power
lines. Scattered power outages are expected.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Wind Advisory is issued when sustained winds of 31 to 39 mph,
or gusts of 46 to 57 mph, are expected or occurring. Winds this
strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile
vehicles, in open areas, and on elevated roads and bridges. Use
extra caution.
