Coastal Flood Warning
Issued: 3:35 PM Oct. 13, 2025 – National Weather Service
...COASTAL FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT THIS EVENING... * WHAT...1 1/2 to 2 1/2 feet of inundation above ground level is expected in vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline for this afternoon, but moreso tonight and Monday afternoon high tide cycles. * WHERE...Southern Westchester, Bronx, Northwest Suffolk, Northern Queens and Northern Nassau Counties. * WHEN...Until 8 PM EDT this evening. * COASTAL FLOOD IMPACTS...Minor to moderate coastal flooding expected, with 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 ft of inundation above ground level in vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline. This will result in several road closures and flooding of numerous low lying properties including parking lots, parks, lawns and homes/businesses with basements near the waterfront. Vehicles parked in vulnerable areas near the waterfront will likely become flooded. Flooding will also extend inland from the waterfront along tidal rivers and bays, including the Hudson River. * SHORELINE IMPACTS...Breaking waves of 3 to 6 ft along the immediate shoreline will result in significant beach erosion and splashover seawalls and bulkheads, exacerbating flooding of shoreline roads and properties. Minor damage is possible to waterfront structures. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...This forecast has been weighted towards a reasonable worst case scenario to account for differences in model depiction of low pressure track and intensity, and provide a safety margin for planning. Water levels would fall on lower end or short of current forecast range if winds remain more from the north versus the northeast. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property. If travel is required, do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. && Time of high total tides are approximate to the nearest hour.
