...Downslope Gusts on northern slopes of the Adirondacks... Strong downslope wind gusts are being observed along Route 11 on the northern slopes of the Adirondacks. Wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph are likely to continue over the next couple hours. There are thunderstorms present, but they may disrupt the synoptically driven winds occurring in the region. Stronger wind gusts will shift east in the next couple hours and abate some as the core of the jet shifts into Vermont. Isolated to scattered power outages could occur.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes. &&
