...FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 1 AM EDT WEDNESDAY... * WHAT...Urban area and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of central New York, including the following counties, Broome, Chenango, Delaware, Madison, Oneida, Otsego and Sullivan. * WHEN...Until 100 AM EDT. * IMPACTS...Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from current rainfall. It will take several hours for all the water to work through local drainage systems in urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 700 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain. Areas of urban and small stream flooding are already occurring in the warned area. Between 1 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Utica, Rome, Oneonta, Oneida, Norwich, Hamilton, Walton, Delhi, Camden, Boonville, Cooperstown, New Hartford, Deposit, Sullivan, Lenox, Lee, Verona, Westmoreland, Vienna and Chittenango. - https://www.weather.gov/safety/flood PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... ...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 2 AM EDT WEDNESDAY... * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of central New York, including the following areas, Delaware, Otsego and Sullivan and northeast Pennsylvania, including the following area, Northern Wayne. * WHEN...Until 2 AM EDT Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Area creeks and streams are running high and could flood with more heavy rain. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Thunderstorms develop this evening associated with an upper level low pressure system. These storms will be slow moving and could train over the same locations.
