...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 1 AM EST FRIDAY... * WHAT...Lake effect snow. Additional snow accumulations 3 to 6 inches in the most persistent lake snows. * WHERE...Niagara, Northern Erie, and Genesee Counties. * WHEN...Until 1 AM EST Friday. * IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions will impact the Thursday morning and evening commutes. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Lake effect snow bands will impact Orleans, Genesee and the far northeast portion of Northern Erie County at time through this evening. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Lake effect snow will fall in relatively narrow bands. If traveling, be prepared for rapidly changing road conditions and visibilities. Submit snow reports through our website or social media. During lake effect snow, the weather can vary from bands of locally heavy snow with greatly reduced visibilities to dry conditions just a few miles away. ...COLD WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 7 PM THIS EVENING TO 10 AM EST FRIDAY... * WHAT...Bitterly cold wind chills as low as 24 below zero expected. * WHERE...All of Western New York. Coldest wind chill values expected inland from the eastern Great Lakes. * WHEN...From 7 PM this evening to 10 AM EST Friday. * IMPACTS...Bitterly cold wind chills as low as 24 below zero will cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes. Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... This is a potentially hazardous situation to be outdoors. If you must be outside, be sure to cover all exposed skin. Frostbite can occur in 30 minutes or less with apparent temperatures of 15 below zero or colder. &&
