...HIGH RIP CURRENT RISK REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM NOON EDT TODAY
THROUGH THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Dangerous rip currents expected.

* WHERE...Kings (Brooklyn), Southwest Suffolk, Southeast Suffolk
and Southern Queens Counties.

* WHEN...From noon EDT today through this evening.

* IMPACTS...Life-threatening rip currents are likely for all
people entering the surf zone. Anyone visiting the beaches
should stay out of the surf. Rip currents can sweep even the
best swimmers away from shore into deeper water.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A moderate risk for rip currents are currently
expected for Wednesday, but there is still a chance that this may
increase to a high risk with the next forecast.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If you enter the surf zone, always have a flotation device with
you and swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax
and float, and do not swim against the current. If able, swim in
a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face
the shore and yell or wave for help.

* WHERE...Sandy Hook NJ to Fire Island Inlet NY out 20 nm.

* WHEN...From 2 PM this afternoon to 6 PM EDT Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Conditions will be hazardous to small craft.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Inexperienced mariners, especially those operating smaller
vessels, should avoid navigating in hazardous conditions.
