...COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 2 PM TO 7 PM EDT THURSDAY... * WHAT...Around 1 ft of inundation above ground level expected in vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline. * WHERE...Southern Queens County. * WHEN...From 2 PM to 7 PM EDT Thursday. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in the most vulnerable locations near the waterfront and shoreline. Expect around 1 feet of inundation above ground level in low lying, vulnerable areas. Some roads and low lying property including parking lots, parks, lawns and homes/businesses with basements near the waterfront will experience shallow flooding. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Water levels could fall short of minor flood thresholds if winds trend northerly earlier than currently forecast. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth.
