At 817 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated a strong thunderstorm, capable of producing winds to around 30 knots. This thunderstorm was located over Oyster Bay Harbor, moving east at 20 knots. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots, locally higher waves, lightning strikes, and heavy downpours. Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until this storm passes. &&

...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL IMPACT QUEENS...BRONX...KINGS...NEW YORK (MANHATTAN) AND NORTHERN NASSAU COUNTIES THROUGH 900 PM EDT... At 810 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over Forest Hills, or over Jamaica, moving northeast at 25 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to outdoor objects is possible. Locations impacted include... Jamaica, Flushing, Mott Haven, Glen Cove, Plainview, Garden City, Syosset, Mineola, Westbury, Great Neck, Oyster Bay, Throgs Neck Bridge, Midtown Manhattan, RFK Bridge, and Laguardia Airport. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm.
