...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1 PM EST SATURDAY... * WHAT...Heavy Snow, possibly mixed with a bit of sleet. Additional snow accumulations between 4 and 8 inches, with total snow accumulations between 7 and 11 inches, highest amounts across hills terrain of Lower Hudson Valley and southwestern Connecticut. * WHERE...Portions of southern Connecticut, northeast New Jersey, and southeast New York. * WHEN...Until 1 PM EST Saturday. * IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Visibilities may drop below 1/4 mile due to falling and blowing snow. Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the Friday evening commute. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Isolated thunderstorms possible. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. Check local Department of Transportation information services for the latest road conditions. Persons should consider delaying all travel. If travel is absolutely necessary, drive with extreme caution. Consider taking a winter storm kit along with you, including such items as tire chains, booster cables, flashlight, shovel, blankets and extra clothing.
