...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL IMPACT SOUTHEASTERN SENECA...CENTRAL SCHUYLER...SOUTHWESTERN CAYUGA AND NORTHWESTERN TOMPKINS COUNTIES THROUGH 115 PM EDT... At 1232 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over Watkins Glen, moving northeast at 40 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Hector, Lansing, Enfield, Covert, Ledyard, Watkins Glen, Trumansburg, Montour Falls, Interlaken, and Burdett. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. If on or near Seneca or Cayuga Lake, get out of the water and move indoors or inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike out to 10 miles from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter now!
