SATURDAY EVENING FOR STRONG WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITY FOR PERSHING,
CHURCHILL, AND MINERAL COUNTIES...

The National Weather Service in Reno has issued a Red Flag
Warning for gusty winds and low humidity, which is in effect from
11 AM Friday to 11 PM PDT Saturday. The Fire Weather Watch has
been upgraded to a Red Flag Warning.

* CHANGES...Fire Weather Watch upgraded to a Red Flag Warning.

* Affected Area...Fire Weather Zone 423 West Humboldt Basin in
Pershing County, Fire Weather Zone 429 Lahontan Basin
including Churchill and Eastern Mineral Counties.

* Winds...West 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph.

* Humidity...Afternoon minimums 10 to 15 percent.

* Duration...3 to 6 hours Friday with 3 to 8 hours Saturday.
While humidity will recover Friday night, winds will stay
breezy on midslopes and ridges.

* Impacts...The combination of gusty winds and low humidity can
cause fire to rapidly grow in size and intensity before first
responders can contain them, especially from any recent
lightning holdovers.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Avoid outdoor activities that can cause a spark near dry
vegetation, such as yard work, target shooting, or campfires.

* WHAT...West winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph for Walker
Lake.

* WHERE...Mineral and Southern Lyon Counties.

* WHEN...From 11 AM Friday to 2 AM PDT Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Small boats, kayaks and paddle boards will be prone to
capsizing and should remain off lake waters until conditions
improve.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Check lake conditions before heading out and be prepared for a
sudden increase in winds and wave heights. Consider postponing
boating activities on the lake until a day with less wind.
