The National Weather Service in Elko has issued a Red Flag
Warning, which is in effect from 12 PM PDT Thursday afternoon
until 8 PM PDT Thursday evening.

* AFFECTED AREA...Fire weather zone 470.

* THUNDERSTORMS...Scattered dry thunderstorms are expected in
Eastern Elko County Thursday afternoon into Thursday evening.

* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop from dry lightning will likely
spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of dry
fuels and strong, gusty outflow wind gusts can contribute to
extreme fire behavior.

* WHAT...High temperatures 97 to 102 degrees in the valleys.

* WHERE...Northern Lander and Northern Eureka, Northern Elko, South
Central Elko, Southeastern Elko, Southwest Elko, Humboldt,
Northeastern Nye, and Northwestern Nye Counties.

* WHEN...Until 1 AM PDT Thursday morning.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and may cause heat illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, reduce time
in the sun, and check on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.
