...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM PST THIS EVENING... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Davis Burn Scar area in Washoe County including US-395 * WHEN...Until 700 PM PST Sunday. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 708 AM PST, gauge reports indicated heavy rain. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Washoe City, Pleasant Valley, New Washoe City and Davis Creek Campground. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Recent burn areas are more prone to flooding, debris flows, and rock falls. Plugged culverts, rocks and debris on roads, and water and mud over roads are common during moderate to heavy rains. Increased sediment and debris can lead to impacts in areas typically not prone to flooding. Use extra caution when traveling in or below recent burn areas. &&

...HIGH WIND WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 4 AM SUNDAY TO 4 AM PST MONDAY... * WHAT...Southwest winds 35 to 45 mph with gusts up to 65 mph. Wind prone locations along US-395/I-580 may see gusts up to 80 mph. Ridgetop gusts up to 100 mph. * WHERE...In California, Mono County. In Nevada, Greater Reno-Carson City-Minden Area. * WHEN...From 4 AM Sunday to 4 AM PST Monday. * IMPACTS...Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Winds may knock down burned trees in the Davis Fire burn area. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Now is the time to secure loose outdoor items such as patio furniture, holiday decorations, and trash cans before winds increase which could blow these items away. The best thing to do is prepare ahead of time by making sure you have extra food and water on hand, flashlights with spare batteries and/or candles in the event of a power outage. &&
