...LAKE WIND ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 2 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 8 PM PDT THIS EVENING FOR PYRAMID LAKE AND THE LAHONTAN RESERVOIR... ...WIND ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM SATURDAY TO 2 AM PDT SUNDAY... * WHAT...For the Lake Wind Advisory, west winds 15 to 20 mph with gusts to 30 to 35 mph. Wave heights of 1 to 3 feet for Pyramid Lake. For the Wind Advisory, southwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph. And again wave heights of 1 to 3 feet for Pyramid Lake. * WHERE...For the Lake Wind Advisory, Pyramid Lake and the Lahontan Reservoir. For the Wind Advisory, Western Nevada Basin and Range including Pyramid Lake. * WHEN...For the Lake Wind Advisory, from 2 PM this afternoon to 8 PM PDT this evening. For the Wind Advisory, from 11 AM Saturday to 2 AM PDT Sunday. * IMPACTS...Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Strong winds and rough waves on area lakes will create hazardous conditions for small craft. Blowing dust may reduce visibilities. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Winds will increase Saturday morning and afternoon, with the strongest winds expected Saturday evening. Winds will very slowly decrease late Saturday night into early Sunday morning behind the cold front. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Now is the time to secure loose outdoor items such as patio furniture and trash cans before winds increase which could blow these items away. The best thing to do is prepare ahead of time by making sure you have extra food and water on hand, flashlights with spare batteries and/or candles in the event of a power outage. Check lake conditions before heading out and be prepared for a sudden increase in winds and wave heights. Consider postponing boating activities on the lake until a day with less wind. &&

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM SATURDAY TO 2 AM PDT SUNDAY FOR STRONG WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITY FOR THE WEST HUMBOLDT BASIN, LAHONTAN BASIN, AND SOUTHERN MONO COUNTY... The National Weather Service in Reno has issued a Red Flag Warning for strong winds and low humidity, which is in effect from 11 AM Saturday to 2 AM PDT Sunday. The Fire Weather Watch is no longer in effect. * CHANGES...The Fire Weather Watch has been upgraded to a Red Flag Warning. Expiration time extended to 2 AM Sunday. * Affected Area...Fire Weather Zone 274 Southern Mono County, Fire Weather Zone 423 West Humboldt Basin in Pershing County, Fire Weather Zone 429 Lahontan Basin including Churchill and Eastern Mineral Counties. * Winds...Southwest 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph. * Humidity...As low as 8 percent. * Duration...4 to 8 hours. * Impacts...The combination of strong winds and low humidity can cause fire to rapidly grow in size and intensity before first responders can contain them.
