FRIDAY: Sustained wind speeds of 25-30 mph with gusts of 40-45 mph. * HUMIDITY...Thursday and Friday afternoon relative humidity values range from 4% to 12%. * IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. ...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO MIDNIGHT PDT TONIGHT... * WHAT...High temperatures 95 to 100 degrees in the valleys. * WHERE...South Central Elko, Southeastern Elko, and Southwest Elko Counties. * WHEN...From noon today to midnight PDT tonight. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures may cause heat illnesses. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
