...WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM THIS EVENING THROUGH MONDAY EVENING... * WHAT...Heavy snow possible. Total snow accumulations 4 to 7 inches possible across the Sacramento Mtns. Total snow accumulations of 2-4 inches possible at lower elevations. Winds gusts of 30 to 40 mph also possible, mainly along west slopes of terrain. * WHERE...Portions of south central New Mexico and southwest Texas. * WHEN...From this evening through Monday evening. * IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. The strong winds and weight of snow on tree limbs may down power lines and could cause sporadic power outages. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Monitor the latest forecasts for updates on this situation. Persons should consider delaying all travel. If travel is absolutely necessary, drive with extreme caution. Consider taking a winter storm kit along with you, including such items as tire chains, booster cables, flashlight, shovel, blankets and extra clothing.
