Issued: 4:11 AM Sep. 19, 2026 – National Weather Service
...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT MDT TONIGHT
FOR BERNALILLO COUNTY...

At 1011 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy
rain across the warned area. Between 0.75 and 1 inch of rain has
fallen. Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is
expected. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
drainage and low-lying areas.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Eastern Albuquerque and Sandia Heights.

This includes the following highways...
Interstate 40 between Mile Markers 160 and 168. Interstate 25 between
Mile Markers 221 and 230.

This warning is primarily for the arroyos and diversion channels
within the affected area due to the expected increase in rapidly
flowing water. Please avoid arroyos, diversion channels and any other
areas that are flooded.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Arroyos, streams, and normally dry rivers can become raging killer
currents in a matter of minutes. Water in arroyos can travel many
miles and take hours to reach your location from upstream rain areas.
