...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 730 PM CDT/630 PM MDT/ FOR SOUTHEASTERN EDDY...SOUTH CENTRAL LEA AND NORTHWESTERN LOVING COUNTIES... At 719 PM CDT/619 PM MDT/, a severe thunderstorm was located 12 miles east of Red Bluff Reservoir, or 18 miles north of Mentone, moving east at 30 mph. HAZARD...Golf ball size hail and 60 mph wind gusts. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...People and animals outdoors will be injured. Expect hail damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees. This severe thunderstorm will remain over mainly rural areas of southeastern Eddy, south central Lea and northwestern Loving Counties. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature's leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to flash flooding. Southwestern Lea County in southeastern New Mexico... * Until 700 PM MDT. * At 609 PM MDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 17 miles east of Malaga, or 30 miles southeast of Carlsbad, moving east at 25 mph. HAZARD...Golf ball size hail and 70 mph wind gusts. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...People and animals outdoors will be injured. Expect hail damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles. Expect considerable tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings. * This severe thunderstorm will remain over mainly rural areas of eastern Eddy and southwestern Lea Counties.
