Northwestern Dona Ana County in south central New Mexico... * Until 915 PM MDT. * At 713 PM MDT, Thunderstorms moving into the Mesilla Valley south of Rincon and north of Radium Springs will bring another round of flooding to Highway 185. While only a half inch of rain is expected in the next 30 minutes, very saturated conditions will result in renewed flooding on area arroyos and low water crossings. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Mainly rural areas of Northwestern Dona Ana County. Rinconcito and Peaceful Valley. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Water over roadways. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 548 PM MDT, Thunderstorms with torrential rainfall were moving into southwestern Dona Ana County. Expect flooding on arroyos and rural back roads north of Highway 9 in the next couple of hours. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Low-water crossings may be flooded. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Tropical moisture will be transported northward ahead of a decaying Tropical Cyclone Polo today and tomorrow, bringing widespread showers and thunderstorms to the region. High rainfall rates and repeated rounds of rain up to 4 inches may result in instances of flash flooding.
