Bernalillo County in central New Mexico...

Southwestern Santa Fe County in north central New Mexico...

* Until 915 PM MDT.

* At 621 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain in East Mountains, including Tijeras, Cedar Crest, and
Chilili. Areas along 1-40 between Carnuel and Moriarty have also
seen extensive rainfall and hazardous driving conditions may
exist. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. Additional
rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1.5 inches are possible in the warned
area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Edgewood, Tijeras, Escabosa, Chilili, Sedillo, Cedar Crest, Cedar
Grove, McIntosh, Sandia Park and Miera.

This includes Interstate 40 between Mile Markers 173 and 193.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law
enforcement and request they pass this information to the National
Weather Service when you can do so safely.

FOR BERNALILLO COUNTY...

At 604 PM MDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Cedar Crest,
or 15 miles east of Albuquerque, moving south at 5 mph.

HAZARD...Golf ball size hail and 60 mph wind gusts.

SOURCE...Public reported.

IMPACT...People and animals outdoors will be injured. Expect hail
damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles. Expect
wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

Locations impacted include...
Tijeras, Cedar Crest, Sandia Park, Sedillo, Canoncito in
Bernalillo County, San Antonito and Carnuel.

This includes Interstate 40 between Mile Markers 171 and 183.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Anyone outdoors should move to shelter inside a well-built structure
and stay away from windows. This storm has produced dangerous hail
and is capable of producing damaging winds.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead
to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

Accumulations of small hail on roads can create very slick and
hazardous driving conditions.

...A LINE OF STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WILL IMPACT BERNALILLO AND
SOUTHEASTERN SANDOVAL COUNTIES UNTIL 645 PM MDT...

At 555 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking a line of strong
thunderstorms extending from 7 miles west of Torreon to 6 miles
northwest of Golden, moving south at 25 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph and nickel size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible.

Locations impacted include...
Albuquerque, southwestern Rio Rancho, Corrales, Los Ranchos De
Albuquerque, Tijeras, North Valley, Paradise Hills, South Valley,
Sandia Heights and Cedar Crest.

This includes the following highways...
Interstate 40 between Mile Markers 141 and 183.
Interstate 25 between Mile Markers 211 and 235.

Monitor the weather situation closely and be alert for threatening
weather conditions.
