...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM NOON MDT TODAY THROUGH THIS EVENING... * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...East Slopes of the Sangre De Cristo Mountains, Southern Sangre De Cristo Mountains, Northeast Highlands and Plains of New Mexico, and Guadalupe and Quay Counties in East Central New Mexico. This includes the Hermits Peak and Calf Canyon Burn Scar. * WHEN...From noon MDT today through this evening. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be flooded. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Showers and thunderstorms will develop across the Sangre de Cristo Mountains early this afternoon, then move east and southeast towards the Oklahoma and Texas borders during the afternoon and evening. A few of the stronger storms will be capable of producing torrential rain at rates near 2 inches per hour.
