...FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT SATURDAY AFTERNOON... * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. * WHERE...The South Central Mountains including the Ruidoso area burn scars. * WHEN...Saturday afternoon. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be flooded. Storm drains and ditches may become clogged with debris. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Scattered thunderstorms across the South Central Mountains will be capable of producing rainfall rates in excess of 1 inch per hour over and downstream of recent burn scars Saturday afternoon. The greatest concern exists over the South Fork burn scar.
