...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 930 PM MDT THIS EVENING... * WHAT...Arroyo and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...South Central Otero County in south central New Mexico... Far northeastern El Paso County in western Texas... Northwestern Hudspeth County in western Texas... * WHEN...Until 930 PM MDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Rises in small streams and normally dry arroyos. Dangerous flows over low-water crossings. Water over roadways. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 730 PM MDT, A band of heavy rainfall is sweeping up through areas east of El Paso, with rainfall rates around 1 to 2 inches per hour observed near Desert Haven. This will lead to localized flooding in poor drainage areas, and in area arroyos. Flooding may also impact military areas in Otero County east of US-54. - Runoff may impact low water crossings on the Hueco Tanks entrance road. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Loma Linda, Hueco Tanks, Desert Haven, McGregor Range Base, Hueco Mountain Estates, Butterfield and Homestead Meadows. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... ...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH LATE TUESDAY NIGHT... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Southwest New Mexico including Dona Ana, Otero, Luna, Sierra, Grant, and Hidalgo Counties. Far West Texas, including El Paso and Hudspeth Counties. * WHEN...Through late Tuesday night. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Low-water crossings may be flooded. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Tropical moisture will be transported northward ahead of a decaying Tropical Cyclone Polo today and tomorrow, bringing widespread showers and thunderstorms to the region. High rainfall rates and repeated rounds of rain up to 4 inches may result in instances of flash flooding.
