* WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...Passaic River at Chatham.

* WHEN...Until early tomorrow afternoon.

* IMPACTS...At 5.5 feet, Open areas adjacent to the Passaic River
flood in New Providence, Chatham Township, and Berkley Heights.
At 6.0 feet, Portions of the Shepard Kolluck Park in Chatham
floods. River Road by Henry Drive is subject to closures.
At 6.5 feet, The Central and Bridge Avenue bridges in Chatham
Township are subject to closures. Edgewood Road is closed.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 1:15 AM EDT Tuesday the stage was 6.0 feet.
- Forecast...The river will fall to 5.9 feet and then begin
rising again later this morning. It will then rise above
flood stage late this morning or early afternoon to 6.1 feet.
It will fall below flood stage tomorrow morning.
- Flood stage is 6.0 feet.
- Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of
6.1 feet on 04/02/2005.

...FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 315 AM EDT TUESDAY...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.

* WHERE...A portion of northern New Jersey, including the following
counties, Middlesex, Morris and Somerset.

* WHEN...Until 315 AM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Numerous roads
remain closed due to flooding. Streams continue to rise due to
excess runoff from earlier rainfall. Expect many areas of slow
moving or standing water. It will take several hours for all the
water from these storms to work through local drainage systems in
urban areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 1136 PM EDT, local law enforcement reported road closures
due to flooding from heavy rain early Monday evening.
Flooding is already occurring. Between 3 and 6 inches of rain
have fallen.
- Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is
expected.
- Some locations that may experience flooding include...
New Brunswick, Perth Amboy, Somerville, Somerset, Edison,
East Brunswick, Sayreville, North Brunswick, Carteret,
Madison, Middlesex and Florham Park.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around...don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most
flood deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law
enforcement and request they pass this information to the National
Weather Service when you can do so safely.
