At 111 PM EDT, trained weather spotters reported thunderstorms producing heavy rain with significant flooding near Lakewood with several road closures and flooded roadways. Between 2 and 3.5 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 0.5 inches in 1 hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Trained spotters reported. IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets, and underpasses. Some locations that may experience flash flooding include... Toms River, Lakewood, Jackson, Manasquan, Point Pleasant Beach, Lakehurst, Mantoloking, Brick Township, Allenwood, Ramtown, Leisure Village East and Leisure Village. Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets, and underpasses as well as other drainage and low lying areas. Some locations that may experience flash flooding include... Trenton, Manalapan, Ewing, Princeton, Hightstown, Bordentown, Cranbury, Allentown, Roosevelt, Wrightstown, Windsor and Edinburg. This includes the following highways... Interstate 295 in New Jersey between mile markers 60 and 74. New Jersey Turnpike between exits 8 and 8A.
