Remember, a Severe Thunderstorm Warning still remains in effect for southeastern Ocean County until 930 PM EDT.

South central Ocean County in southern New Jersey... * Until 930 PM EDT. * At 824 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Beach Haven West, or 18 miles northeast of Atlantic City, moving southeast at 25 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Damage to roofs, siding, trees, and power lines is possible. * Locations impacted include... Tuckerton, Surf City, Beach Haven West, Mystic Island, and Manahawkin. This includes Garden State Parkway between mile markers 56 and 61. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm, and the storm will affect the beaches. For your safety, immediately move off the beach and seek shelter indoors. Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to flash flooding. Coastal waters from Manasquan Inlet to Great Egg Inlet NJ out 20 nm... * Until 930 PM EDT. * At 754 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing waterspouts was located over North Beach Haven, moving southeast at 25 knots. HAZARD...Waterspouts, wind gusts to nearly 50 knots, and large hail. SOURCE...Buoy. At 749 PM EDT, a 50 knot wind gust was recorded at the North Beach Haven mesonet station. IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally hazardous seas. Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and suddenly higher waves. Large hail could result in structural damage. * Locations impacted include... Beach Haven, North Beach Haven, Garden State North Reef, Little Egg Reef, Little Egg Inlet, Ship Bottom, Garden State South Reef, Harvey Cedars, and Brigantine. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until this storm passes. Wind gusts to nearly 50 knots, large hail, high waves, dangerous lightning, and heavy rain are possible with this storm. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 2 to 3 inches in 1 hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Public reported. IMPACT...Flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets, and underpasses as well as other drainage and low lying areas.
