* At 450 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from near Newton to Long Valley to near Lebanon to
Gardenville, moving east at 30 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and nickel size hail.

IMPACT...Damage to roofs, siding, trees, and power lines is
possible.

New Brunswick, Perth Amboy, Morristown, Somerville, Newton,
Somerset, Edison, Old Bridge, East Brunswick, Bridgewater, South
Brunswick, Sayreville, North Brunswick, Carteret, Dover, Madison,
Hopatcong, Middlesex, Princeton, and Florham Park.

New Jersey Turnpike between exits 9 and 12.
Interstate 78 in New Jersey between mile markers 19 and 42.
Interstate 80 in New Jersey between mile markers 23 and 47.
Interstate 287 in New Jersey between mile markers 0 and 54.
Garden State Parkway between mile markers 119 and 133.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

In addition to hail and damaging winds, frequent cloud to ground
lightning is occurring with these storms. Move indoors immediately.
Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck
by lightning.

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection has issued
a code orange air quality alert Saturday for Monmouth County.

A code orange air quality alert means that air pollution
concentrations within the region may become unhealthy for
sensitive groups. Sensitive groups include children...people
suffering from asthma... heart disease or other lung
diseases...and the elderly. The effects of air pollution can
be minimized by avoiding strenuous activity or exercise outdoors.

...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT SATURDAY...

* WHAT...Heat index values up to 103 degrees.

* WHERE...Portions of northern Delaware, central, northern, and
southern New Jersey, and southeast Pennsylvania.

* WHEN...Until 8 PM EDT Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
illnesses.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Warm and very humid conditions at night will
not offer much relief from the heat and humidity.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in
shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat
should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an
