At 623 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges. IMPACT...Flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets, and underpasses as well as other drainage and low lying areas. Some locations that may experience flash flooding include... Dover, Hopatcong, Wharton, Rockaway, Mount Arlington, Mendham, Stanhope, Netcong, Peapack And Gladstone, Chester, Victory Gardens and Lebanon. This includes the following highways... Interstate 287 in New Jersey between mile markers 22 and 26. Interstate 78 in New Jersey between mile markers 20 and 31. Interstate 80 in New Jersey between mile markers 23 and 39. At 621 PM EDT, the public reported thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area with numerous roads flooded. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Public reported. IMPACT...Flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets, and underpasses as well as other drainage and low lying areas. At 601 PM EDT, emergency management reported thunderstorms producing heavy rain with numerous instances of flash flooding near and along the Interstate 80 corridor. Between 2.5 and 3.5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Emergency management reported. IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets, and underpasses. Some locations that may experience flash flooding include... Blairstown, Belvidere, Hope, Delaware Water Gap, Millbrook, Echo Lake, Werry Lake, Columbia, Flatbrookville, Five Points and Crandon Lakes.
