...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 945 PM EDT THIS EVENING FOR NORTHEASTERN MONMOUTH COUNTY... At 730 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain had fallen across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges. IMPACT...Flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets, and underpasses as well as other drainage and low lying areas. Some locations that may experience flash flooding include... Long Branch, Asbury Park, Sandy Hook, Tinton Falls, Red Bank, Elberon, Navesink, Lincroft, Collingwood Park, Eatontown, West Long Branch and Rumson. This includes Garden State Parkway between mile markers 102 and 112. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around...don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. && FLASH FLOOD...RADAR AND GAUGE INDICATED

...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT SATURDAY... * WHAT...Heat index values up to 102 degrees. * WHERE...Portions of northern Delaware, central, northern, and southern New Jersey, and southeast Pennsylvania. * WHEN...Until 8 PM EDT Saturday. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Warm and very humid conditions at night will not offer much relief from the heat and humidity. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
