...DETERIORATING TRAVEL CONDITIONS THIS AFTERNOON... A band of heavy snowfall is beginning to move inland from the New Hampshire and Maine coast with lowering visibilities and increasing snowfall rates. Expect roads to become snow covered with localized whiteout conditions possible due to blowing snow for the early afternoon hours. Consider delaying travel if possible...and give yourself plenty of extra time to travel if you must venture out.

...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 PM EST THIS EVENING... * WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 6 and 12 inches. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph. * WHERE...Portions of southwest Maine and central, northern, and southern New Hampshire. * WHEN...Until 10 PM EST this evening. * IMPACTS...A snowstorm will bring plowable snow to the region with a period of moderate travel impacts expected. Periods of moderate snow and low visibility will be the biggest hazards. The evening commute will be impacted. Strong gusty winds are expected with the snowstorm. The winds will combine with the dry snow to create dangerous blowing and drifting of snow. Localized periods of near zero visibility in open areas will lead to hazardous travel conditions. Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects and break some tree limbs. The power outage threat is limited. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
