PANHANDLE...

The National Weather Service in North Platte has issued a Red
Flag Warning for Low relative humidity and gusty winds, which is
in effect from 11 AM to 5 PM MST Saturday.

* AFFECTED AREA...Fire Weather Zone 204 Eastern
Panhandle/Crescent Lake NWR.

* TIMING... 11am MT to 5pm MT Saturday

* WINDS...Northwest 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 14 percent.

* TEMPERATURES...Up to 26.

* LIGHTNING...None expected.

* IMPACTS... Any fire starts will have the potential for quick
growth and rapid spread and may be difficult to control.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.

* WHAT...Very cold wind chills in the negative 20s expected.

* WHERE...Portions of north central, panhandle, and west central
Nebraska.

* WHEN...From midnight CST /11 PM MST/ tonight to 11 AM CST /10 AM
MST/ Saturday.

* IMPACTS...The dangerously cold wind chills could cause frostbite
on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes. Wind chill values can
lead to hypothermia with prolonged exposure.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Keep pets indoors as much as possible.

Make sure outdoor animals have a warm, dry shelter, food, and
unfrozen water.

Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure
portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills
inside.
