* WHAT...For the Extreme Heat Warning, dangerously hot conditions
with heat index values up to 109 expected. For the Extreme Heat
Watch, dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to 106
possible. The warmest day is expected to be Saturday.

* WHERE...Portions of central, east central, and south central
Nebraska.

* WHEN...For the Extreme Heat Warning, from noon today to midnight
CDT Saturday Night. For the Extreme Heat Watch, from late Saturday
night through Sunday evening.

* IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during
extreme heat and high humidity events.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Overnight low temperatures will fall no lower
than the upper 70s, providing limited relief from the heat. Steady
south winds may provide some relief for those outdoors, but
dehydration and heat-related illnesses remain possible even in the
windy conditions.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car
interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.

...FLOOD ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 AM CDT EARLY THIS
MORNING...

* WHAT...Minor flooding caused by excessive rainfall.

* WHERE...A portion of central Nebraska, including the following
counties, Greeley, Howard, Sherman and Valley.

* WHEN...Until 500 AM CDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 1251 AM CDT, Doppler radar estimates that generally 1 to 4
inches of rain had fallen across the advisory area from
thunderstorms Thursday evening. No additional rainfall is
expected the rest of tonight. Minor flooding is ongoing or
expected to begin shortly in the advisory area.
- A Flood Warning remains in effect through 8 AM CDT this
morning for portions of southeastern Valley County and
southwestern Greeley County, including the North Loup,
Scotia, and Davis Creek Wildlife Management areas.
- Some locations that may experience flooding include...
Ord, Greeley, Elba, Elyria, Cotesfield, Fort Hartsuff State
Park, and rural portions of Greeley, Howard, Sherman and
Valley counties.

...FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 AM CDT THIS MORNING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of central Nebraska, including the following
counties, Greeley and Valley.

* WHEN...Until 800 AM CDT Friday.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 1205 AM CDT, radar estimates that 2 to 4 inches fell
across the warned area from earlier thunderstorms. Emergency
management reports water from an area canal was causing water
to rise onto part of the Highway 11 and Highway 22 junction
area south of North Loup. Some area rural roads in the North
Loup and Davis Creek Wildlife Management areas were also
affected by water.
- No additional rainfall is expected tonight.
- Some locations that may experience flooding include...
Scotia, North Loup, and rural portions of southeast Valley
and southwest Greeley counties.
