...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 6 AM CST SUNDAY... * WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 2 and 4 inches. * WHERE...Furnas, Harlan, Franklin, Webster, Nuckolls and Thayer counties. * WHEN...From noon today to 6 AM CST Sunday. * IMPACTS...Travel could become difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the Friday evening commute, but are are most likely to impact travel Friday night through Saturday afternoon. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Northeast winds will gust to around 20 MPH Friday afternoon and evening, but will decrease to only around 10 MPH or less late Friday night through Saturday night. This should keep blowing and drifting of snow to a relative minimum. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Slow down and use caution while traveling. ...COLD WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON CST MONDAY... * WHAT...Very cold wind chill temperatures of -15 to -25 degrees, especially during the overnight and morning hours. * WHERE...Portions of north central Kansas and central, east central, and south central Nebraska. * WHEN...Until noon CST Monday. * IMPACTS...The dangerously cold wind chills as low as -25 degrees could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Even during the afternoon hours, especially Friday and Saturday, wind chill readings will likely remain at least as cold as -5 to -10 degrees. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves. Keep pets indoors as much as possible.
