...FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 PM CDT THIS AFTERNOON... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Southwestern Greeley County in central Nebraska... Northeastern Howard County in central Nebraska... Southwestern Nance County in central Nebraska... Southeastern Valley County in central Nebraska... * WHEN...Until 500 PM CDT Tuesday. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 707 AM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Flooding is already occurring in the warned area. Between 3 and 6 inches of rain have fallen. Fortunately, little additional rain is expected today within the Warning area, most likely less than one-quarter inch. - This includes the following streams and drainages... West Branch Spring Creek, Wallace Creek, South Branch Mira Creek, Davis Creek, Spring Creek, North Branch Mira Creek, North Loup River, Cottonwood Creek, Cady Creek, Moffet Creek, Fish Creek, Stewart Creek, Loup River, Dry Creek, Mira Creek, Shepherd Creek, Rock Creek, Davis Creek Reservoir Area and Cedar Creek. - Some locations that could experience flooding include... Scotia, North Loup, Wolbach and Cushing, but mainly areas near these towns. - At 645 AM CDT, an automated gauge along the Mira Creek near North Loup reported a stage of 7.16 feet. This is still below the minor flood stage of 9 feet, but the creek continues to slowly rise and could at least further approach flood stage yet this morning. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely. &&

Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
