The National Weather Service in North Platte has issued a Fire Weather Watch for gusty south winds and low humidity, which is in effect from Wednesday afternoon through late Wednesday night. * AFFECTED AREA...Fire Weather Zone 209 Loup Rivers Basin. * TIMING...Tuesday, Noon CDT to 9 PM CDT for the Red Flag Warning. Wednesday, 1 PM CDT to 1 AM CDT Thursday for the Fire Weather Watch. * WINDS...North 15 to 30 mph this afternoon. South 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 35 mph Wednesday afternoon and evening. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 17 percent this afternoon and again Wednesday afternoon. * TEMPERATURES...Up to 80 this afternoon. Up to 84 Wednesday. * LIGHTNING...None expected. * IMPACTS...Any fire starts will spread rapidly and be difficult to control. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly.
