* At 1135 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain
have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are
possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected
to begin shortly.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

SOURCE...Radar.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

Raleigh, Cary, Garner, Fuquay-Varina, Clayton, Zebulon, Apex,
Holly Springs, Knightdale, Wendell, Lake Benson, Lake Wheeler,

NORTHEASTERN HARNETT, SOUTHERN JOHNSTON, SOUTHWESTERN WAKE AND
CENTRAL WAYNE COUNTIES...

At 1052 PM EDT, emergency management reported that numerous roads in
downtown Smithfield have 3 to 4 feet of water. Additionally, water
has entered into residences in Smithfield. Between 3 and 5 inches of
rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are
possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring.

HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing
flash flooding.

SOURCE...Emergency management reported.
