...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM OVER ALLIGATOR RIVER AND CROATAN AND ROANOKE SOUNDS... The areas affected include... Albemarle Sound... Alligator River... Croatan and Roanoke Sounds... S of Currituck Beach Light NC to Oregon Inlet NC out to 20 nm... At 444 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated a strong thunderstorm, capable of producing winds to around 30 knots. This thunderstorm was located over The Center Of Croatan Sound, moving northeast at 10 knots. Other thunderstorms were located over Alligator River. Locations impacted include... Nags Head, Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills, The Vicinity Of Mashoes, Ar140, Ar130, The Center Of Roanoke Sound, The Center Of Croatan Sound, Duck, Alligator River Bridge, and The Mouth Of The Alligator River. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots, locally higher waves, and lightning strikes. Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until this storm passes. Intense lightning is occurring with this storm.
