Special Weather Statement
Issued: 6:46 AM Oct. 22, 2025 – National Weather Service
...INCREASED FIRE DANGER FROM 11 AM EDT THIS MORNING THROUGH 7 PM EDT THIS EVENING... Dry and windy conditions return to the area on Wednesday behind a departing cold front. Afternoon relative humidity values are expected to drop into the 25-30% range with intermittent wind gusts up to 15-20 mph. This, combined with dry fuel conditions, will result in increased fire danger across western North Carolina. Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities on whether you can burn today. If you do burn, use extreme caution, as fires can spread rapidly under these conditions.
