For the Wind Advisory, northwest winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 55 mph expected. * WHERE...Avery, Buncombe, Henderson, Mitchell, and Yancey Counties, plus mountainous western portions of Burke, Caldwell, McDowell, Polk, and Rutherford counties. * WHEN...Until 1 PM EST this afternoon. * IMPACTS...Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 20 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes. Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures. Pets and livestock will be endangered by extreme cold if left unprotected for extended periods. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution. Secure outdoor objects.
